I woke up at about 2am to the sound of dogs viciously barking outside. I layed there and just listened to them. That lasted for about an hour, and then I just wasn’t tired anymore. I thought if I watched more of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, that I would get tired and then be able to fall asleep. That didn’t work either. So I decided to take the time and read my Bible. That seemed to do the trick. But I woke up again at 4am to the sound of the neighbors rooster. He just kept crowing for about an hour. I was able to get another 3 hours of sleep.

Once I woke up and got ready, I hung up all of my photographs above my bed so that I could have my little piece of home. We then sat down for breakfast together. We had a meat patty (kind of tasted like kibby), with a roll and scrambled eggs. Mrs. Coelho must have worked some magic on those eggs because they were amazing. She said that she made them with salt, pepper, eggs, and chili powder. I never thought I liked chili powder, but the tides are changing.

After breakfast, we drove through some so called “good traffic” (I don’t think so) and went to the day school. I got to meet the kids and read some of the curriculum I will be using. After that, we drove to the store and got some American junk food. Coca Cola and Oreos. The Oreos here are not as sweet as they are in America. It’s kind of nice. Anyways, we got back to the house and had some leftovers from last night. I caved and had a peanut butter sandwich and some Oreos after that. And then the jet lag hit me again, so I passed out again.

We eat dinner pretty late here. The Coelho’s decided to take me out to try something called a dosa. We went to this restaurant and the servers came around and put a banana leaf in front of each of us. That was to be our plates. Then they came around and poured three different kinds of sauces on our leaves. A lentil sauce, a coconut chutney (my favorite), and a spicy sauce (I couldn’t eat this one). They came around soon with the dosa’s. It was basically an india savory crepe. I got a masala dosa. So the inside had a potato and something filling. It was amazing. I decided right then and there that that was my favorite Indian dish. Although, that will probably change as soon as I eat something else that I like. After that, we drove to a place that served Bombay Chowpaty Kulfi. This is kind of like Indian ice cream or sorbet. It comes in a block, and they cut it up into pieces that you can eat with a toothpick, and they stick it in a bowl. I tried the guava flavor, although I have never actually eaten guava fruit before. The Coelho’s say that that will change.
