Today was another day of studying and Christmas caroling. Mrs Coelho made indian grits which were SO good. They had potatoes and tomatoes and loads of spices.

The drive to caroling took a little over an hour with traffic. I witnessed some pretty strange things during this long drive. There were two rickshaws touching each other. Like almost ramming into each other while driving. And one of the guys in the rickshaw just stuck his hand and foot out and pushed the other rickshaw away. They must be light vehicles.

When we got to the spot, we all gathered around P. Anil (playing guitar) and we sang. We were singing on a public sidewalk but I guess cars are also allowed to park in some spots there. So we got dispersed a few times by cars driving right across the sidewalk. That was nice. I also witnessed a dog getting his leg run over by a car. It was so sad. He was literally screaming and limping across the street. And nobody would help him because nobody wants to get rabies.

After a while, we moved to another location to sing. While singing, there was an extremely loud sound (like VERY loud) and something appeared to be coming down out of the sky. I honestly thought that it was a meteor and we were all going to die. I mean, that would be a good way to go. Christmas caroling. But after further observation, I think it was a jet flying very low. Two more of them flew by while we were singing. Gillian said she thinks they are practicing for something.

We headed to a restaurant for dinner and almost everybody got biryani (flavored Indian rice with different things in it). It was so spicy. I used raita (yogurt with some veggies in it) to cool it down. It turns out, there were chili peppers in the raita. That totally defeated the purpose and made the spiciness a whole lot worse. Red face. Sweating. But it was quite delicious.
