In India, the steering wheel is on the right side of the car and as P Bryan says, “sometimes they drive on that side of the road, and sometimes they drive on the other side of the road”. That was very reassuring.... We passed by a lot of cows just standing in the road. You have to swerve around some of them. I have been told that I have to touch one of them for good luck.

We got to the Coelho’s house a few minutes later. It is upstairs in an apartment building. They have one balcony for sitting, one balcony for laundry, and one more, I think that one is for laundry too. I get to share a room with Gillian. The house is all ready and decorated for Christmas. Gillian says that it is hard to find Christmas decorations here without elephants on them.

For breakfast, we had omelets and chapati, which is an Indian flatbread. Everyone went to the school to work after that. I stayed at the house, unpacked, and passed out. I woke up around dinner time and was able to meet Mrs. Coelho (the sweetest woman on the face of the earth). She made a spaghetti and meat dish with more chapati for dinner. I was able to give the Coelho’s some gifts from my family and call it a night.
